India Pharma Expo 2026, held alongside the NextGen Pharma Summit & Awards from 23-25 April 2026 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology experts to discuss the future of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, and life sciences.
Over three days, the event served as a platform for exploring emerging technologies, regulatory developments, manufacturing excellence, healthcare innovation, and opportunities for global collaboration.
The expo featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical sessions, networking opportunities, and industry recognition through the NextGen Pharma Awards. Discussions throughout the event reflected the industry’s growing focus on digital transformation, sustainable growth, patient-centric healthcare, and strengthening India’s position in the global pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem.
The opening day focused on India’s pharmaceutical growth roadmap and the factors shaping the future of the country’s life sciences sector. During the inaugural session, Dr Ravi Gupta, Founder & CEO, Elets Technomedia and Editor-in-Chief of eHealth Magazine, welcomed delegates and highlighted the scale of the event, which brought together more than 300 brands, nearly 100 speakers, and a diverse range of exhibitors.
Addressing the gathering, H.E. Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner, spoke about the significance of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement and its potential to strengthen pharmaceutical collaboration through improved market access, regulatory cooperation, manufacturing partnerships, and investment opportunities. Sudarshan Jain, Secretary General of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, highlighted Telangana’s emergence as a major pharmaceutical and technology hub and emphasised the growing convergence of life sciences and digital technologies as a key driver of future innovation.
Industry leaders also explored the importance of collaboration and ecosystem development. K.K. Maheshwari, Senior Vice President of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), stressed the need to support MSMEs through better technology access, export facilitation, and resilient supply chains. Chakravarthi AVPS, Chairman of the Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs (FOPE) – Telangana & Andhra Pradesh and Global Ambassador of the World Packaging Organisation, discussed Hyderabad’s transformation from a generics manufacturing centre into a globally recognised innovation hub supported by advances in R&D, packaging technologies, and IT integration.
Panel discussions throughout the day examined topics including future-ready pharmaceutical manufacturing, sustainability, digitalisation, workforce development, nitrosamine risk management, clinical trials, global regulatory compliance, Pharma Manufacturing 4.0, startup-led innovation, and opportunities in biosimilars and biologics. Collectively, the sessions underscored the industry’s commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and global competitiveness.
The second day shifted focus toward supply chain resilience, policy support, entrepreneurship, and emerging growth opportunities within the pharmaceutical sector.
Opening the day’s proceedings, Dr Ravi Gupta reflected on the role of collaborative platforms in accelerating innovation and strengthening connections between industry, academia, and policymakers. Sarvesh Singh, Director & CEO of Telangana Lifesciences, Government of Telangana, highlighted Hyderabad’s global leadership in vaccines, APIs, and pharmaceutical exports, describing the city as a major contributor to the global healthcare ecosystem.
Innovation and entrepreneurship emerged as key themes during spotlight sessions. Dr Anand Govindaluri emphasised the importance of creating stronger support systems for entrepreneurs and innovators, while Dr Y. Sridhar Reddy, Honourable Secretary of the Industry Pharmacy Division, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, discussed the need for integrated, high-quality data ecosystems to enable scalable AI-driven solutions in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
A major discussion centred on pharmaceutical supply chain operations in an increasingly complex global environment. Amol Vyavahare, Assistant Vice President, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., stressed the importance of robust development processes to ensure consistency and quality throughout product lifecycles. Annapurna Kaja, Group Head – Supply Chain Management, Cancer Centers of America, examined how analytics and technology are reshaping supply chain efficiency and resilience. Venkatanarayan V., former Vice President & Specialist – Digital & OE, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, emphasised that digital transformation should be driven by business needs and measurable outcomes rather than technology adoption for its own sake.
Additional sessions explored pharmacovigilance, drug safety, drug discovery, research and development, regulatory pathways, the growing CDMO and CRO landscape, peptides, and next-generation therapeutics. These discussions highlighted India’s expanding capabilities across research, development, manufacturing, and global commercialisation.
The day also featured the NextGen Pharma Awards Ceremony in the presence of Shri C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Government of Telangana. In his address, he highlighted Telangana’s continued growth as a leading destination for pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and manufacturing. He also outlined the State’s efforts to support industry expansion through infrastructure development, land allocation, connectivity improvements, and supportive policy initiatives.
The final day expanded the conversation beyond pharmaceuticals to examine the growing integration of healthcare delivery, medical technology, and clinical innovation.
A featured session, “The Pulse Talk – MedTech Meets the Operating Room”, brought together Deepti G, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Ozone Hospitals, and Dr Puneeth Babu Anne, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of American Oncology Hospital. The discussion explored how healthcare institutions are evolving into innovation-driven organisations focused on outcomes, efficiency, and patient experience.
Another session, “From Supply Leader to Innovation Brand”, featured Sudhakar Rao, Director of ICFAI Group, who discussed the importance of leadership, strategic transformation, and innovation adoption in building resilient healthcare enterprises.
Panel discussions examined critical healthcare topics including oncology, precision medicine, diagnostic innovation, and the development of future-ready hospitals capable of balancing infrastructure growth, quality standards, accreditation requirements, and leadership excellence.
The day also featured insights from Dr P.V. Rao, Former Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Director of the Diabetes Research Centre, Hyderabad. He addressed the increasing burden of metabolic disorders and emphasised the need for preventive, technology-enabled, and integrated healthcare systems.
Further discussions included perspectives from Dr C. Prabhakar Reddy, Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at NIMS, Hyderabad, who highlighted the role of evidence-based therapeutic practices in modern healthcare. Technical and knowledge-sharing sessions were delivered by Kanchan Mala and Dr Mahesh Mishra of Invitron Advanced Analytics, Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kumar Tiwari of R.K. Dewan & Co., and Dr Nitu Sinha, Vice President – Global Pharmacovigilance & Patient Safety at Mankind Pharma and Bharat Serums and Vaccines Ltd. (BSV), who discussed the growing importance of patient safety and global pharmacovigilance frameworks.
