CAM presents its high-speed solution for vials, ampoules, and cartridges/carpules in tray; a complete integrated line including: rotary labeller, thermoforming machine, cartoner, bundler/overwrapper, case-packer and palletizing machines. The line’s flexibility allows any customer request for vial, ampoule and carpule/cartridge packaging combinations to be fulfilled, with the guarantee of a complete track-and-trace system.
In response to the requirements of top pharmaceutical companies, CAM has designed the high-speed monobloc LR105 for labelling of vials, ampoules, carpules, and syringes. The self-adhesive labels are applied from a reel at a speed of up to 500 labels/min for labels up to 48 mm in length. The labelling unit may perform inkjet or thermal transfer printing, based upon production speed and label type. The unit is fully controllable even through the machine’s operator panel, with settings for printing parameters and label format data. The LR105 may be further customized with the following equipment:
The heart of CAM’s solution for vial, ampoule and carpule/cartridge packaging are its thermoforming machines. These are intermittent motion machines with mechanical web transfer and flat cutting die. The machines may be equipped with a sealing station for tray with lid packaging. They are characterized by a balcony structure in the loading area, small overall dimensions, and simplicity of use.
The machines are designed paying special attention to fast and intuitive format change-over as well as cleaning and inspection operations in compliance with GMP. The machine operation and reliability are also guaranteed by photocells for prompt product overload detection.
Thanks to CAM’s experience, format change-over has been facilitated by design of each part in view of a fast replacement by minor intuitive operations. Systems for sealing, forming and cutting plates, plain bearing guides for the product load deck, and sensors detecting their correct position, make format change-over simple even for unskilled operators.
Perfectly linear and accessible machines, which give the operator full vision and control of all the functions carried out. The carton magazines have a large storage capacity, guaranteeing carton loading efficiency. The cantilever structure, separating the mechanical transmission from the carton handling areas, guarantee total accessibility for machine inspection purposes and immediate elimination of product/packaging material residue, in compliance with GMP standards.
The machines’ product transport buckets move following a cam profile and are inserted by pushing devices all across the depth of the cartons, allowing perfect product introduction even when handling products with irregular shape/dimensions. The pushing devices may be equipped with upper blades that enable precise introduction of leaflets/booklets or other similar items into the carton, independently from the characteristics of the products to be handled.
As for all CAM machines, cartoners are equipped with the Mechanical Memory® system, transforming complete size change-over into a series of rapid and pre-set operations, which can be carried out by unskilled personnel in less than 10 minutes, eliminating the need for fine-tuning adjustments.
The flexibility and reliability of CAM cartoners enable the use of cardboard trays as a sustainable alternative to plastic packaging solutions for vials, bottles and syringes. Replacing conventional plastic trays with plastic covering films, increasingly adopted carton-based trays feature dedicated volumes and die-cut compartments to securely accommodate products while ensuring handling stability.
This solution reduces plastic consumption while simplifying disposal and recycling processes. Since both the tray and carton are paper-based, the secondary packaging becomes effectively mono-material, eliminating the need for material separation by the end user and facilitating packaging recovery and recyclability.
Thanks to its great modularity and versatility, the machine satisfies all serialization and traceability requirements or norms and can reliably handle mechanical speeds up to 350 strokes per minute.
Its compact overall dimensions mean easy, quick, and flexible integration in existing production lines and with machines made by any manufacturer.
Its key features are:
balcony designCAM’s automatic bundler/overwrappers have been designed to carry out bundling and complete overwrapping of parallelepiped shaped products, using heat-sealable plastic film. Designed and manufactured according to the strictest safety regulations, they require minimal maintenance and guarantee high performance and reliability.
The completely automatic working cycle requires mandatory operator presence only for wrapping material reel change. Pre-arranged for easy and rapid format change-over, the machines are extremely versatile.
Any type of heat-sealable wrapping material may be handled, and the machines produce aesthetically perfect, tight wrapping even with low quality films, such as polyethylene, without the need for a heat-shrinking tunnel.
Their modular construction is compatible with different types of feeding systems, enabling any type of bundle arrangement.
The machines may be installed in any packaging line and can be connected to any upstream machine. Optional devices include but are not limited to: double reel shaft, tear-tape application unit, printed film adjustment device, longitudinal perforator for dotted lines to facilitate opening.
CAM’s case-packers are designed with accurate care for space-saving, accessibility, and ease of format changeover.
They have a cantilever structure, with a net separation between mechanical parts and product handling and packaging area, that is easily accessible from the operator side for ideal feeding and regular maintenance operations.
CAM palletizers have a closet-type structure and specific toughness and strength characteristics.
The number of possible product stacking configurations the machines may handle is virtually unlimited.
The machines may be equipped with an automatic empty pallet feeder (versions with 3-pallet magazine up to 10+10 pallet magazines), pallet rotation upon exit, automatic layer pad feeder, non-skid coating, and various optional product compliance and checking (with automatic rejection of non-compliant products) possibilities, including: weight checking; barcode verification; label presence verification; label printer; inkjet printer.
CAM, founded in 1949, provides complete packaging Iines for pharmaceutical products: pills, tablets, syringes in blisters, vials/ampoules in trays, liquids, creams, powders, and granulates.
Present on the Indian market for over 18 years with Iines installed in all main pharmaceutical companies, CAM has decided to further strengthen its presence by opening a new facility in Mumbai: Campak India.
The new CAM branch, boasting qualified and specialized Indian personnel, will offer commercial consultancy, technical assistance, machine refurbishing, and spare/format change parts services.
