Dear Pharma Pals,
In recent years, changes in the healthcare market have forced the pharma sector to undergo painful transformations. In 2024, economic pressures are expected to increase competition and market expectations, while also tightening the global regulatory environment.
The industry is also undergoing a rapid transformation that requires new skills and capabilities, such as digital and data literacy, agile ways of working, and an innovation mindset. In this issue the magazine focused on conventional training v/s Virtual training, Vendor management and Green Revolution for sustainability and survival.
The conventional training methods such as self-study of SOPs or classroom training, which were once thought to be the cornerstone of pharmaceutical education, are now showing their limitations in addressing the complex problems encountered on the shop floor. The Virtual reality (VR) and simulation-based training, for instance, can create scenarios where learners actively engage with the material. This active participation, combined with a realistic and immersive environment, enhances knowledge retention.
Further looking ahead today each organisation is responsible for ensuring their vendors provide consistent quality of services and materials which are fit for purpose throughout the product lifecycle from production development right through to commercial distribution. Vendor management is the process of working with vendors, controlling costs and increasing value whilst ensuring quality and managing mitigating risks. The Green Revolution is a movement aimed at advocating for sustainable practices and technologies within the industry. This encompasses the adoption of renewable energy, the implementation of eco-friendly manufacturing and packaging processes, and the application of green chemistry.
