Uhlmann presents the integrated bottle packaging line – IBC 150 at 10th Pharma Pro&Pack Expo (September 26 – 28) at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad at Hall 6, Stall E-01.
Highly automated, networked, and flexible – the Integrated Bottle Centre IBC 150 is designed to pack small to medium-sized batches of solid dose products in bottles. The Monoblock, measuring around five meters, packs on average up to 150 bottles and 18,000 tablets or capsules per minute with 3 servo counting modules. The machine can be added with an additional counter module to increase the output up to 24,000 tablets or capsules per minute.
Rapid product changeover and short ramp-up phases make the line attractive for Pharma Manufacturers, CMOs, CDMOs and of food supplements. For example, the bottle diameter changeover can be achieved in just six minutes. The entire line is controlled in a standardized manner via the user-friendly Smart Control operating system.
The IBC 150 encompasses the following functions within one machine :-
• Desiccant insertion (single / multiple) (pouch or canister)
• Pre & Post filling check weighing of bottles
• Servo based Counting of tablets with 100% counting accuracy
• Inspection and single tablet rejection
• Cotton insertion
• Metal detection
• Servo capping with individual torque control
Cremer CF-622 counting modules are linear electronic counters, specially designed for fast & accurate counting. The CF-622 modules are executed with a servo driven vibratory plate section, LED detection unit and servo driven separator- and discharge flap units. Underneath the discharge flaps a dipping nozzle is installed to discharge the products in the bottles.
The vibratory plate unit transport and separates the products which then free fall into the channel and pass the detection unit. For a reliable detection of each product, the products must go through the detection channel one by one. A good separation of products is an essential condition for the good working of the system.
Depending on the discharge mode in the settings, when the set number of products is reached in the bottle or on the discharge flaps: the separator flaps will close and collection of tablets will continue on these separator flaps, so that no time is lost during transfer of the bottles. Servo motors of the flaps give always feedback in any case of no correct reaction.
The sensing system is auto-compensating for dust, which means that in case of dusty/uncoated products the light intensity increases when dust is deposited so the accuracy will not be affected. The control system will generate an error signal when the contamination reaches an unsafe level.
• Due to more stringent, the content of bottles must be checked for foreign particles in the packaging process before these are sealed. IBC150 has an integrated a metal detector and it has done so without increasing the footprint of the monoblock.
• Another key function of the compact line is the innovative single tablet reject function: This optional module checks the tablets already in the tablet counter and identifies any damaged or incorrect products and foreign particles. These are rejected whilst maintaining a high production speed. As only a few tablets are removed from the process instead of three completely filled bottles, as was previously the case, pharmaceutical companies can significantly reduce the rejection rate when filling tablets in bottles.
As a stand-alone solution or integrated in the packaging line, the compact Uhlmann Serialization Platform S 500 is optimally adapted to the bottle line IBC 150. Depending on the challenge, pharmaceutical manufacturers can use the unit, which is free from format parts, in various configurations, e.g. for a 360° bottle inspection, for bottle labeling or serialization, whereby every bottle is identified with a 2D code.
The basis for any track & trace application is the software. Uhlmann’s Pexcite platform offers a digital solution for recording, preparing, and evaluating machine data – all independent of the manufacturer.
